This is what we promise our readers, our subjects, and our contributors.

1. Numbers first

Every claim that can be checked against a primary source is checked against a primary source.

2. Disclosed conflicts

Writers disclose holdings, advisory roles, and affiliations relevant to anything they write about.

3. No paid stories

Editorial coverage is never sold, suggested, or shaded by commercial relationships.

4. Right of reply

Companies named in critical reporting receive the questions in writing and a real opportunity to respond.

5. Corrections

Errors are corrected at the top of the article, not in a footnote, and an editor's note explains what changed.
